Grace Gaze

25 Simple Comparisons Between Law and Grace to Ensure Your Freedom (part 3/4)

Burdenoflaw

Just as knowing the truth sets you free, lies keep you in bondage (John 8:32).

In this post I’ll share the next 25 comparisons between truth and lies.

In other words, we talk about the difference between Grace-based thinking (truth) and Law-based thinking (lies) in order to walk in confidence and ensure our freedom in Christ.

If we don’t renew our mind according to God’s way of thinking, we’ll end up like the guy in the picture who is burdened by a yoke of religion because he still is:

  • Trying to become clean, holy, righteous and Christ-like (while he’s already who he is in Christ).
  • Begging God to come down (while He has already come down).
  • Striving to get closer to God (while he’s in perfect union with Him).
  • Trying to obtain more “spiritual things” (while he’s complete in Christ).
  • Asking God to save, heal and deliver people (while He told him to do the works of Jesus).

Instead of trying to become who we already are, trying to get what we already have and trying to get God to move through self-efforts, we’re called to restful trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ and allow Him – who is in us – to live His live through us! That’s the Gospel that will change the world.

Be challenged and encouraged as you go over the next 25 simple comparisons.

Law Mindset (Old Covenant)

Grace Mindset (New Covenant)

 51.

Gods people seek Gods perfect will for their life and are afraid to make the wrong choice and getting “out of the centre of Gods will”

Gods people have found Gods perfect will, revealed in the Person Jesus Christ. Jesus is the perfect will of God for their lives

 52.

Gods people have on occasion the Spirit on them which makes them “anointed”

Gods people are anointed therefore the Spirit is on them

 53.

Gods people through works try to get heaven down on earth

Gods people are heaven on earth

 54.

God’s people pray for revival

God’s people are revived to be revival

 55.

Gods people seek for keys to have “revival”

Gods people are revival

 56.

God’s people wait and expect “a move of God”

Gods people are the move of God

 57.

Gods people talk and prophecy about a “new thing” to happen and a “new season” we’ve entered

Gods people talk and declare that all things are made new by the one offering of Jesus. How they’re new creations placed into a New Covenant enjoying the new and living way to relate to the Father through His Son Jesus Christ

 58.

Gods people look and wait for a visitation of God

Gods people are His habitation, therefore don’t expect a visitation. He has already come

 59.

Gods people cry out for “an outpouring of Gods Spirit”

Gods people are Gods “down-pouring” as they let the Living Water pour out of their inmost being, therefore they don’t ask for the outpouring of the Spirit

 60.

Gods people ask God to make wrong things right

Gods people are made right with God to make wrong things right on earth on His behalf

 61.

Gods people beg and plead God for breakthrough

Gods people have already received their breakthrough – once for all – to bring breakthrough to other people’s lives

 62.

Gods people tell God “send us out”

Gods people are already the “send out ones” from the moment of conversion

 63.

Gods people wait on God “to renew their strength”

God’s people have already received God’s strength and make use of it as they live by the Spirit

 64.

Gods people expect to go to heaven one day

Gods people are already in heaven – seated with Christ

 65.

Gods people are looking for God to speak through others and hear a voice from heaven (an outside source)

God has already spoken through His Son and continuous to speak through the indwelling Spirit

 66.

Gods people don’t act unless they get “a leading” or “a rhema word” from God what to do, when to do it and how to do it

God’s people always act based on the Word and as they do they’re led by the Spirit because the Word and the Spirit are one

 67.

Gods people think the Christian life revolves around what they do for Christ

Gods people believe it’s all about what Christ has done for them

 68.

Gods people do their best and try hard to please God

Gods people are the pleasure of God and rest in the knowledge that He is well pleased with them

 69.

Gods people are under a curse, like “a generational curse”

Gods people are free of any curse; Jesus broke the curse by becoming a curse for us

 70.

Gods people serve God as if He needs them and is served by human hands and their self-efforts

Gods people allow God to serve them; letting God work through them to bless others

 71.

God’s people believe the Christian life is “all of God and none of me”

Gods people believe it’s “all of God and all of me” because of their union with Him

 72.

Gods people believe God can or will heal people of sickness and disease

Gods people believe God has already healed all sickness and disease by the stripes of Jesus

 73.

Gods people consider the Kingdom of God a matter of talk

Gods people consider the Kingdom of God not a matter of talk but of power

 74.

Gods people believe unconfessed sin is a blockage to healing, to minister to others and to have their prayers answered

God people are sin-free in Christ: He has removed the sin-blockage once for all. We relate to God through a new and living way without any blockage of sin or distance

 75.

God’s people follow signs and wonders

Signs and wonders follow God’s people

  1. Will the cartoon clip – The Church sitting on the believer makes them running away from churches they serve. Or is it another way of explaination!!! The church has to use them for example urshers, worship leading, etc… I like the Grace and Law mindset – very well written.

    • Bas Rijksen says

Yes, this picture shows a buy who’s burdened by the “Church.” Meaning, whatever he is hearing it’s there’s no or little grace but primarily rules, reguluations and more rules; this causes him to be in bondage to walk after his flesh/his own strength….the Church using people to run the program that would be another story indeed…
